Summer Camps
The Burton Center for Arts & Technology is hosting summer camps for rising 6th, 7th, and 8th graders to explore interests in different programs offered at BCAT. Camps run from 9 a.m. to Noon each day. Each program is limited to twenty (20) students on a first-come, first-served basis. Transportation is not provided.
Manufacturing Camp
June 2-12 (M-Th)
Mechatronics Program
Instructor: Shawn Burns
Students will explore the exciting world of manufacturing through hands-on projects, combining computer aided design (CAD), computer aided machining (CAM), and computer numerical control (CNC). This camp focuses on additive and subtractive manufacturing processes. This is a two-week camp of hands-on fun and creativity!
VEX Robotics

BCAT Robotics Team
Instructor: Sarah Gerrol
Students will work with VEX robots to learn about design, building, programming, and competing in this hands-on camp. Teams of two students will learn how to program robots for autonomous movement and then practice their learning in a variety of activities during the week.
Intro to Manufacturing and Auto Technology

Automotive Technology Program

Get ready to rev up your knowledge! This camp is a four-day adventure that delves into the inner workings of internal combustion engines. Students will assemble their very own 4-cylinder model to take home and gain hands onexperience with basic auto maintenance, hand tools, and shop equipment.

Want to become a cupcake master? Start your journey here! Learn a variety of culinary skills including safety, measuring, baking, and decorating. Campers will leave with their own decorating kit and the knowledge to prepare delicious treats at home for personal enjoyment or special occasions!
Woodworking Basics
June 2-5 (M-Th)
Building Trades Program
Instructors: Keith Robinson and Tom Shelton
Learn to work safely using small woodworking tools to build real bird houses, bird feeders, and scale race cars. Items built during camp will be taken home at the end of the camp week. Join Mr. Robinson & Mr. Shelton for lots of fun!
Crime Scene Investigation
June 2-5 (M-Th)
Criminal Justice Program
Instructor: Jason Walls
Participants will learn the basics of crime scene investigation through a variety of hands-on activities and classroom discussion. At the conclusion of the week, participants will complete a mock crime scene investigation.
