National YoungArts Winner
Nate Buck, a junior in the Center for the Visual Arts at Burton (and WBHS) won the 2026 National Young Arts Award in the Visual Arts.
YoungArts is a national nonprofit organization that supports emerging high school artists in the United States. It offers a prestigious competition for artists aged 15-18 across various artistic disciplines, providing them with financial awards, mentorship, and professional development opportunities. YoungArts also nominates up to 60 candidates for consideration as U.S. Presidential Scholars in the Arts, recognizing the top 10% of applicants each year.
Over 16,000 students entered. The winners receive cash prizes ranging from $250 to $10,000. The winners are chosen for their caliber of artistic achievement by esteemed discipline-specific panels of artists through an adjudication process that includes multiple rounds of review.
Nate won The YoungArts Award which recognizes work that demonstrates exceptional technique; a powerful sense of artistry; and a depth of thinking/performance that exceeds the level of peers at this career stage. He will receive a monetary award of $250.
In addition to monetary awards, all winners receive a lifetime of creative and professional support and access to YoungArts Post—a private, online portal for YoungArts artists to connect, share their work and discover new opportunities.
We are so proud and excited for Nate!
