About the Program
The teaching internship program offers students the opportunity to study the development of children in an educational environment. Students learn how to meet the physical, emotional, and intellectual needs of children. Students learn how to assist children in a classroom environment. During the internship students spend their time shadowing and mentoring a teacher at an elementary school. When students are not at a school, they meet at Burton 2 to 4 times a month after the initial two weeks of school. Students have the opportunity to dual enroll and receive up to six college credits toward early childhood education certification.
