
About the Program
One of the jobs in highest demand around the Roanoke Valley is Welding. Welders learn the skill of joining pieces of metal together through the use of tools that produce extreme heat. Whether welding in a shop that produces railroad cars, or hanging on the side of tall skyscrapers under construction and fastening metal beams, or welding underwater to strengthen bridges, welders possess a skill that bring high wages. Instruction is given in basic oxy-acetylene, S.M.A.W., G.M.A.W., F.C.A.W and G.T.A.W. welding and CNC plasma cutting. Grade Levels: 9 – 12.
